An episode on surrender vs. resignation. Surrender is letting it go, whereas resignation is allowing a habit behavior that we know is descructive. We’ve resigned ourselves to repeat behavior that we know isn’t good for us but we don’t know how to change. Resignation passive acceptance of something undesirable, whereas surrender is active, willing, and open letting go.

The purpose of time is for learning. Highly variable, subject to change, not easily measured. It’s essentially another dimension: a sphere in 3 dimensions, and a 4th dimension being time. The episode is concerned with defining and understanding time.

Being a creative who puts art out into the world is a strange exercise. When we spend a lot of time on a project that comes straight from the heart, we may feel that the art is coming straight from some inner sacred place. When we put out this intensely personal piece of art we may feel that it is a reflection of us. What if people don’t like it? Does that mean they don’t like us? The most successful art that we can ever make is that which comes most purely out of a desire to create, rather than that which we think is post appealing or popular.
Every single thing you do is a repetitive behavior. When we do one behavior we are often setting ourselves up for another behavior. The hooks in our environment that trigger repetitive behaviors can reinforce bad habits. Today, be aware of them. Even if you’re not ready to let repetition go, be conscious of your doing it.
The universe never sends a problem that cannot be solved. When we have obstacles and issues in life that come about, that in itself is a sign that there IS an answer or a solution. If we had no problems life would not be enjoyable. Today, I can embrace the spiritual purpose of my problems.
Isn’t it interesting that sometimes we’re so caught up in making a decision that we’d rather have someone else make the decision for us, even if the decision is one that limits our freedom. If you shrug your way through life, you will find that you’ll end up somewhere you don’t ultimately want to be. Get clear today about what you want, and make that decision.
What is you and what is your ego? Do you often feel defensive or care a lot about issues outside yourself? The ego will tell you you’re separate in all ways, and will tell you to pass judgement on things and people. The ego is about worrying and suffering, and it always wants something.
We’re talking about effort, and specifically balancing it. How do we balance the life forces available to us in each moment? Are we clear about the things we can and cannot change, or are we efforting in fruitless areas?
Practice surrender in every area of your life. Surrender is another way of saying unconditional acceptance of what happens. Surrender involves me getting out of the way so my Higher Power can do the work. Anything that feels like a struggle is somethings I can surrender to in the moment.
Meditation has become very common in the last 20 years or so, but why do we even practice? Is it to “clear our mind,” or to combat anxiety? Meditation serves a slightly different purpose for all. In this episode we talk about strengthening a connection with Spirit to give you higher than average power in your day.
The spiritual aspects of persistence. Taking an action over and over, even when it sucks. It actually doesn’t matter how you feel when you do it. If you do it, you’ll get the benefits. That’s great news.
